How to Use This Roatry Damper

1. Two-way dampers are capable of generating torque in both clockwise and counter-clockwise directions.

2. It is essential to ensure that the shaft attached to the damper is equipped with a bearing, as the damper does not come pre-installed with one.

3. When designing a shaft for use with TRD-57A, please refer to the recommended dimensions provided. Failure to adhere to these dimensions may result in the shaft slipping out of the damper.

4. When inserting a shaft into TRD-57A, it is advisable to rotate the shaft in the idling direction of the one-way clutch while inserting it. Forcing the shaft from the regular direction may cause damage to the one-way clutch mechanism.

5. When using TRD-57A, please ensure that a shaft with specified angular dimensions is inserted in the damper's shaft opening. A wobbling shaft and damper shaft may not allow the lid to slow down properly when closing. Please see the diagrams to the right for the recommended shaft dimensions for a damper.

Damper Characteristics

1. Speed characteristics

Torque in a disk damper is dependent on the rotation speed. Generally, as indicated in the accompanying graph, torque increases with higher rotation speeds, while decreasing with lower rotation speeds. This catalogue presents torque values at a speed of 20rpm. When closing a lid, the initial stages involve slower rotation speeds, resulting in torque production lower than the rated torque.

2. Temperature characteristics

Torque of the damper varies with ambient temperature. As temperature rises, torque decreases, and as temperature drops, torque increases. This behavior is attributed to changes in the viscosity of the silicone oil within the damper. Refer to the graph for temperature characteristics.
